OES Purpose, Principles and Values
The purpose of our Order is to provide a female companion Chapter to cooperate with the Lodge of Free Masons, since women cannot join the Masonic Lodge.
The principles are personified by five stories of women taken from the Holy Bible. They are fidelity, obedience, loyalty, truth, and heroic endurance. These principles are five in number, representing the five degrees.
One of the most significant values of the OES is that of education, community service, and charitable work. It is important for members of the OES contribute to improving the quality of life for those less fortunate, hungry or needing support and assistance.
Joining the Order of the Eastern Star is open to women, 21 years of age or older, who may or may not be related to Masons in good standing. Male members of the OES must be IFAMM Master Masons in good standing within their local lodge, submit an application that is signed by the Worthy Matron, their Worshipful Master and approved by the Grand Master of the State.
Once you have made a decision to become a member, the first step is to submit a Petition to Become a Member of the OES and let them know of your interest. Someone will contact you and follow up to schedule a meeting time and place. We will search for a local chapter in your area or if you are interested in forming one, you will need to mobilize six other women in good standing and submit a Petition to Become a Member.
We applaud your interest and hope to call you "Sister" soon.

"You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own."
- First Lady Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama (2009-2017)
In the history of the Pernella Tubbs Supreme Grand Chapter, since International Masons and Eastern Stars - Worlwide, there have been four women who led the sisterhood. We honor the legacy of those women whose shoulders we stand on.
In 2017, Sister Monique Walton became the fourth Supreme Grand Matron and works tirelessly to ensure the tireless efforts of those who paved the way for her are safely delivered to the many Eastern Star chapters throughout the United States and Bahamas. Leadership Development, Education, and Financial Integrity are the three primary focal points during her first term.
